(More customer reviews): First let me start by saying that I've played the baseball games released this year for both the game cube and the PS2. Overall HR king is the best arcade baseball game. The graphics are excellent. It is a an arcade game and not simulator. If you want simulation then All star baseball is the game for you.
HR king is a great game. But you do need patience to play the game at first. Once you get used to it and it's few glitches it should be a fun game.
Gameplay: The gameplay could be better. There are some funky defensive plays. They didn't bother me that much, but it does take some getting used to.
For example the infielder is about to field and ground ball when all of sudden instead of the ball going into the glove it passes by the fielder and then it jumps back into the glove. Like I said it takes some getting used to. Considering that this the first year for this game it's not bad. By next year I'm sure they will fix these glitches.
The batting is fairly easy. You just have to get the timing right.
Graphics: Wonderful. These are the best looking players in any baseball game made up to now.The detail of the stadiums is awesome. The over all look is great. The menus have an arcade look to them.
What can I say The graphics make the game. I guess it helps to have a televsion with progressive scan. This game supports this TV feature.
Sound: The crack of the bat is so sweet!! everything else is mediocer. The play by play is very very very dry. But then again I don't buy baseball games for the announcers. This could be fixed by next year.

Just like the name implies, Home Run King bills itself as an action-heavy arcade take on the national pastime. Among the game's features are a powerful create-a-player mode, an expansion team option that lets you build a squad of your favorite players, and, of course, a home run derby.
