(More customer reviews)This game is not flashy at all. There are no players running around the bases flipping there bats as they hit their 5th homer of the game (Triple Play/MLB 2001). This game is baseball simulation at its best. The computer can beat you 12-5 on one day, and you can beat them 3-2 the next. The graphics are not great, neither is the play by play, but the players run, throw, hit, and field very real. You can actually score a man from 2nd base on a single. The good pitchers get people out if you work the hitters, while the subpar pitchers struggle to retire the heart of a good team's batting order. Unlike other baseball games, you can actually draw a walk, hit and run effectively, and steal a base with a good runner. The game has a season mode which allows you to promote/demote players among your active roster and your 10-12 minor league players that have actual names of real minor leaguers. For instance, the Yankees minor league players on the game include Soriano.Lilly,Keisler,NJohnson, and Tessmer. This is great b/c sometimes your team will suffer injuries and you can promote one of those guys to take their spot on the roster. Another plus to this game is the stat tracker. The game tracks stats for everything. League Leaders in almost every imaginable category are available. Also, your players go on hot streaks, cold streaks, and even PMartinez is beatable if you can scratch a run or two and shutout the other team. If you like real baseball with real gameplay and are willing to sacrifice some graphics and are willing to put up with subpar announcers, this is real baseball.

While improving on the graphics of previous PlayStation installments in the series, High Heat Major League Baseball 2002 looks to retain and even improve its reputation for realistic simulation. Player models, stadiums, and other in-game visuals have been totally redesigned, but they haven't thrown the baby out with the bath water. The game builds on the features of the much-acclaimed PC versions, such as adjustable skill levels for the game's athletes, unusual errors (like balks), bullpen warm-up routines for your relief staff, and realistic baseball physics (as opposed to the long-ball arcade play of other titles).
